Can you pass the mentorship test?
Oh, you never heard of the Mentorship test?! It's actually straightforward and short. It will help you self-evaluate your mentorship or lack thereof.
Are you leveraging your life to the fullest to make an impact on others? Are you opening yourself up to new growth and development?
Question #1: Do you have a Timothy in your life?
Timothy was one of the young men that the Apostle Paul intentionally mentored and discipled. Some of the time, they were living and traveling together; at other times, we find them communicating by courier or letter. But Paul was intentionally trying to help him grow into a godly young man with character and purpose. Do you have someone like that in your life? If so, you are on the right track.
Question #2: Do you have a Paul in your life? Unfortunately, none of us ever arrive, we never reach a point where we no longer need counsel or guidance from our older siblings in Christ. Just as Paul chose Timothy to invest in, Timothy sought out mentorship from Paul.
Timothy pursued the wisdom of his older brother. He opened himself up to and allowed someone to speak into his life. Even Paul had Barnabas, who was older and wiser, and did a great deal to help Paul grow into the role that God had called him to. So, Do you have someone like Paul in your life?
If you answered yes to both questions, CONGRATULATIONS, you passed.
If you answered less than two, I can help you get started down the right path. Check out my new book "Letters to an Apprentice" coming out in April 2020.
